WAVES 2018- Cultural Fest Concluded at SSIET Dera Bassi Leaving Behind Colorful Memories Sri Sukhmani institute of Engineering & Technology Dera bassi, a premier institution in the field of Technical education, celebrated its 21st annual function with a  colorful program WAVES 2018 that witnessed active participation of enthusiastic students, teachers and well wishers. All the Faculty, staff and students of SSIET, SSIHM and SSP welcomed the chief Guests Chairman Prof. Avtar singh and Director Mrs Kanwaljit Kaur of SSGI. The chief guest, Prof. Avtar Singh during his speech on opening ceremony, motivated the students to actively participate in cultural programs along with studies. Students from various institutes of SSGI participated in different events like solo song, folk song, Group dance, Fashion show, Skit, Gidha and Bhangra. The audience liked the event integrated India with diversity most, in which students of different states presented the culture of different Indian states.

Various competitions such as face painting, Mehndi art, Rangoli, Grafiti, flower decoration, Salad Making, Photography etc. were organized during this cultural fest. But the major attraction among all the competitions was competition for the Mr. Fresher and Ms. Fresher of 2018 batch. After the thoughtful judgment based on the various selection rounds, these titles were distributed. Mr. Fresher title was given to Siddharth Gupta of B. Sc. HMCT and Ms. Fresher title was given to Arohi, student of Diploma (Civil Engg). After that, prizes were also distributed for winners of different other event competitions that were held on the first and second day of the Cultural Fest WAVES-2018.

During the closing ceremony of the function, Prof. Rashpal Singh, Chief Administrator and Prof. Gurpreet Kaur, Director Technical appreciated the college management, students, faculty and other staff involved for the commitment and arrangements for the successful conclusion of the Fest. They told that such types of programs are the need of today’s era to get rid of the business of routine life. They also stressed that such programs are helpful in maintaining our tradition and to attach our newer generation with our vast Punjabi virsa. All the Principals of different institutions of SSGI were also present.
